A HAPPY DOG IS A TRAINED DOG

Please, please, if you are thinking of getting a puppy or you already have one; learn how to train him/her.

Alot of dogs end up in rescues or worse due to the owner did not know how to train. They say a dog is only as smart as his owner.

I suggest that you definately go to some type of puppy kindergarden and or obedience school. This way you can get advice in person with any trouble you are having. It also helps to socialize your pet with people and and other dogs. The last thing you want is your dog always starting fights.

Alot of people hire a trainer to come to the house. That is okey (I have gone out and trained other peoples dogs) but sometimes what happens is the dog will do what he is supposed to do and then when the trainer leaves he is back to his old shenanagins.

I strongly suggest you train your dog yourself and that everyone in the family get on the same page especially if you have little ones.

The dog knows who he can take advantage of. (more on that later)

I came across a family who's dog would snarl at them and bite whenever they tried to correct him. They sent him to my house for training. Guess what? The dog did not even try to bite once. I did everything to get him to do to me what he was doing to his family. He never did any of it.

I was babysitting another pup and I watched them play. Here I realized he was treating his owners as a litter mate. I then took the dog back to their house and watched. Yep' I was right. He was trating them as equals(though he was trying to be the alpha(top dog) there. So' basically. I had to teach them how to be top dog .

For the record; never hit your pet. You could cause them injury.

If push comes to shove; grab your dog under the chin and with the opposite hand' smack your own hand. He will get the point and you are not hitting him.

Also; until your dog is trained; think about it, it is unfair to scream at him if he does not understand yet.

Learn positive training/ When he does what you want... He's the best boy/girl in the whole world, plenty of praise and a treat. if he doesn't do it.... he gets none of those things. Dogs aren't stupid. They'll come around.

Hugs, kisses , praise and treats are alot more fun.
